Shutdown day

I'm preparing for this Saturday's shutdown day. A full 24 hours without turning on the computer. Can I do it? Of course I can, but it's going to be quite strange.

Since I started blogging about three months ago, not a single day has passed without me spending some time at a computer, partly this is because I made a vow to write everyday, but the blogging has also become something of an obsession. Not just the writing of course, but the visiting of all the lovely bloggers I've "met" in this period. So I may suffer from mild withdrawal symptoms this Saturday.

Therefore I'm very grateful to Kristin of write now is good who directed me to a hilarious YouTube film showing other things to do with our laptops; like using them for snowboarding (no snow here though), ping pong rackets and various other activities. Visit her blog for more ideas.

Can you switch off for a whole day?

Sounds like a good idea, I have plenty of non-blogging things I could catch up with doing instead!

Sorry, I can't. I work on the computer, and unfortunately, Saturday's a work day. Before I blogged, though, I used to refrain from turning on the computer on Sundays. Now I try to just get on to post my Sunday Scribblings and that's it.

I'm too dependent.. :)

My hub thinks I spend an extraordinary time at the puter. Especially in the morning. But then I explained how he reads the paper with his coffee, while I catch up on blogging with my coffee. When I first started I never realized how addictive it could be. But I have met a lot of wonderful people and I really enjoy it. So what's the harm?
No I won't shut down Sat.-that's my listing day at etsy!
Okay...I'll be quiet now! lol

I could never. In fact, I dropped my computer recently (I had foolishly put it on top of our CD tower when we were packing to go to Miami), and I was devastated when I thought it was broken. (It wasn't, it's just a little slow now :(

oh course i can do it
and then
my stomach started flip flopping
what if i want to check ...
my banking
a blog
on my friends
and then
its only one day
but
what if i want to download my photos
or play in photoshop or check a movie review

eep! I have become so dependent on my laptop, its actually frightening when I think of the years and years that we lived without a computer. I might give the shutdown day a try but I can't guarantee my will be strong ;-)

A whole day! Gack. Do I have to?

I finally linked you.

I don't know why the fonts are different sizes but you're on my list.

I apologize for taking so long.

oh I can do it. is that happening today though? oops I've already messed it up then... but it's fairdos since I haven't been on much this past week.

it's no good switching the machine off and then eating too many chocolate eggs to compensate for it though! :-)

I'm a writer, and while I love a pen and paper, I could never have a whole manuscript in individual pages. It just wouldn't work. I could never unplug.

Wonder if you're going through withdrawals yet! Hope you're enjoying your computer-free day!

I've done it, but since it wasn't intentional, I'm not sure if I got any value from it.

I am completely addicted.
